Tax Decoder

Tax Decoder was a 325 page comprehensive look problems with the current tax code and offers recommendations and options for reform.

The cover and title play on the complexity that is the tax code and the inability for the average tax payer to understand what it all means. Tax Decoder is the decoding device for anyone to have the ability to read and grasp the problems contained within the tax code.

If you take red cellophane, such as that you would find within red and blue 3D glasses, the teal words pop out to the viewer as a way to read the problems.

Problem Solving

The biggest issue we faced was how to design a report of this size that people will want to read. It was originally separated into 19 separate word documents written by various people that totaled over 500 pages.

We decided that endnotes would work better than footnotes for ease of reading and saving space. Further, we chose to place the endnotes at the end of each chapter to provide the greatest clarity.

With this design we were able to easily save each chapter out in its own PDF. This way someone in the field of education could find the Education chapter and not have to sift through all 325 pages to find the issues that mattered to them.
