"Roadmaps to Opportunity" was an event hosted by The Hill and The Annie E. Casey Foundation that brought thought leaders and policy makers together to discuss the state of children in America. Specifically discussed was way data shapes public policy and what statistics show about future impacts of policy decisions.

Speakers included Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Patrick McCarthy, President & CEO, Annie E. Casey Foundation,  Doug O'Brien,  Senior Policy Advisor for Rural Affairs, Domestic Policy Council for The White House, and Isabel Sawhill, Co-Director of the Center on Children and Families at The Brookings Institution.

Concept

The client requested that the design match their branding specifically in regards to a recently released report. The report relied on a minimalist approach and was saturated in statistics.

The map specifically corresponds with a map from their report. The color of the states shows that poverty rate of children within their borders. As the poverty level increases the darker the state becomes.

Event Design

The event will have a speaker session along with a period for questions and answers from a panel of experts. The backdrop provides a dark background behind them as they sit and speak. The step and repeat ensures that there is adequate brand awareness.

The pillars on either side are triangular. The 8' pillars needed to keep a darker background as well because there will be a podium to the left that a speaker will use for a portion.

The hashtag is visible from all areas of the room with the way the will be positioned so that any guests can take advantage of the conversation on social media. This also allows us to track the conversation and social media impact more effectively.
